Taking Charge! Inc. is a non-profit organization assisting single parents and women to achieve self-sufficiency and to take charge of their lives.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 

The community based Board of Taking Charge! Inc. are looking to fill the position of Executive Director, which is available due to an impending retirement. 

We are looking for a motivated, respectful individual who works well with clients, staff and the broader community. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated career in management, supervision of staff and working in the area of community social services. This person will have experience overseeing all organizational operations, including programs and policies with appropriate staff, plus have abilities to manage all human resource functions and oversee financial activities. 

The successful applicant will encourage collaboration, be able to support staff in providing programs and services that are client driven and responsive to labour market demands. The staff of Taking Charge! is experienced and knowledgeable in the employment, education, and training fields. Additionally, staff provide information and support to participants so that they make informed decisions regarding their education and training as well as receiving support in other areas of their lives. Individuals completing the Taking Charge! program leave prepared, determined, and committed to achieving their goals and the Executive Director ensures that programs and staff are in place to support and facilitate this undertaking.

The successful applicant will reflect the Taking Charge! values of social justice, inclusiveness, cross-cultural sensitivity, gender equality, fairness, non-judgement, compassion and respect. The successful applicant will operate with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability and have experience reporting to and working in conjunction with a Board. This person will undertake all public relations activities including being the spokesperson in the community and among key stakeholders including levels of government, community leaders and agencies. 

The successful applicant will have a university degree, plus more than five years of related experience in the social services and education and training fields, superior verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; experience in coaching, facilitation, crisis intervention skills and problem solving; lived knowledge and/or experience working with community based organizations; demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a demanding environment.

Terms and Conditions of employment are negotiable.

Hiring range: $60,000 to $70,000
Salary range: $60,000 to $ 75,000
