Work Prep Language and Literacy Program

Who can come to our school?

  1. You are an immigrant woman
  2. You don’t have a job
  3. You have been in Canada a long time; two years or longer
  4. You are on Employment Insurance or on Employment and Income Assistance (E.I.A.)
  5. You need to improve your reading and writing
  6. You want to get a job or you want to study for a job

What do we teach?

  1. Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, email, and the internet
  2. Workplace health and safety
  3. How to work well in the Canadian workplace
  4. How to find a job
  5. Reading and writing
  6. How to become a healthier, happier person

Do you want to come to our school? This is what should you do:

  1. Make an appointment with WELARC. Go to 275 Portage Avenue, Room 400 or phone 943-5387.
  2. Let WELARC know that you would like to go to school at Taking Charge!
  3. WELARC will give you an English test. They will decide if Taking Charge! is the best school for you. They will make an appointment for you with Taking Charge!
